THE ARTIST
Stephanie Sheppard
Little Falls, NY
Stephanie Sheppard is eclectic when she chooses her subjects and the ideas she wants to photograph. Her works illustrate beauty, abstract expression and an abundance of color when available.
Sheppard’s challenge as a photographer is to bring new perspectives to her subjects using light, abstraction and point of view, which can provoke her viewers into reaching beyond the image and into the “soul” of the photograph.
New ideas present her with a revised “eye” each time she picks up her camera. She is constantly chasing the “decisive moment” that will elude her if she blinks.
THE ART
South William Street Bridge, 2019
Photography
When Sheppard looked out over the river at the William Street Bridge, the sun was casting the most beautiful reflections in the water. The contrast of the metal bridge against the nature of colorful autumn leaves was breathtaking to her. What captured Sheppard’s photographic eye was a nice abstract feel to the composition, architectural interest, and some artistic flare. The bridge is not used anymore, due to age. It spans over the Mohawk River and leads to a small island not in use. The bridge can be seen at historic Canal Place, in Little Falls, NY Exit at Little Falls from the New York State Thruway, just minutes from the Iroquois Plaza.
